Default Loss of power

I've slowly been losing power (acceleration in my 01 Tib. I've noticed over the past 2-3 months a steady loss of power, which is now pathetic.

I had a diagnostic run at the dealer and they said my CEL is on because of my o2 sensors and acceleration sensor. The thing is, I removed my acceleration sensor about 2 years ago. Why would I just now be feeling a loss of power?

There's a lot of lag at low RPMs and a big difference in throttle response. The motor revs but the car doesn't move.

I'm thinking clutch or fuel flow. I don't smell the clutch burning, and I'm using the normal amount of gas I usually do. It just makes sense that one of those would be the cause though. I have an Exedy Clutch, Walbro fuel pump, MSD DIS-2 Ignition w/ Tach adapter, both new OEM o2 sensors, Magnecor wires, and even a new acceleration sensor, and I'm going to be installing all of this over this next week. I'm pretty sure all these installations will solve the problem, but I want to know what the problem was incase I ever have it again.

I currently run an Injen CAI, 4-2-1 headers, 3in APexi exhaust, B&M short shifter, UR Crank Pulley, and about every other tank I use Outlaw Octane booster. Maybe this might help you figure out what the deal is?!?

Other possibilities: Timing Off? (Timing Belt)
Fuel Filter? (Never benn changed)
Thermostat? (Never been changed)

I know I'm naughty.

BTW I'm at 48500 miles, it's a 5 speed, driven moderately rough.

Thank you for any advice!uzzled:

in re-reading the post now that I am awake... it does sound like your clutch is toast... If the engine revs and the car doesn't move... 9 times out of 10 it is the clutch

It was stupid to remove it, but when I did it I had just put on my new strut tower brace. I was away from home and the sensor didn't fit with the brace. I had limited tools and no where really to re-mount it, so I threw it in the trunk and just kept a close eye on performance. i never noticed a difference in performance and eventually the sensor came up missing.

I hope the new clutch does the trick.

Thanks guys.

While you are driving, put the car into 3rd at low rpm and step on it. If you're RPM's increase faster than your speed, its your clutch (or so I have been told).

I appreciate all the advice. I installed the Walbro pump, O2 sensors, and Magnecor wires yesterday.

The car runs 10 times better now. I can feel the extra power available, but there is still lag during acceleration, and after about 10 -15 mins driving the CEL came back on!?!

Whats the deal with that? The dealer told me it was on from the O2 sensors, I replaced those with brand new OEM sensors and the light is still on. Any ideas about that?

The MSD DIS-2 and Exedy clutch are going on Thurs. (possibly won't be done till Fri, I'm not an electrician):hmmm:

If anyone reading this is thinking about getting the Walbro pump, go get that motha! It took me about 45 mins. to install, thats including every step, removal of the seats and everything. I was pretty hesitant with removing my fuel lines too, so I was taking my time.

If you know what you're doing, you could probably install it in about 20 mins., it's only $100, and you can definately feel a big difference. Especially if you have the air flow and spark already set up.

I definately recommend!:
