battery/ alternator / fuses ?

ok so i was away at college for 2 months, and my car was in the garage, and i forgot to disconnect the battery. so when i got back, suprisingly, it worked for one night. the next day i go to start it and it wont start.. so i jump it, it starts but wont hold a charge. so the next day i get a new battery. i have electrical power, like the lights go on and stuff, but the car wont start. it makes a terrible clicking noise. like the starter isnt turnin over or somethin. so my question is...do you know what the real problem is now? like fuses, alternator or starter, or somethin else, and could i fix it myself? im decent at car stuff but by no means am i a mechanic, and i would def prefer to not tow it to a shop. so if maybe you could provide some directions that would be awsome!

as of how your probem is i've got it down to two things it's either your alternator or maybe your starter. so check both of those...
