Im going to be buying a new muffler for the tib due to the fact my old one was basically just a cherry bomb. My exhaust is a straight through 2.25" design. I am curious as to what name brand mufflers anyone here prefers. I was considering the magnaflow dual tip, however Im open to recomendation. Im looking to lower the tone of my exhaust a little too, so emphasis on the muffling part. Thanks a lot.

if you want to muffle your tone.. you might want to consider the magnaflow AND a either a resonator or a smaller muffler upstream acting as a resonator.

I had a Powertone Extreme and two glasspacks acting as resonators...that thing was LOUD AS HELL!!! I had to make a custom baffler that damn near closed the damned thing off.

I recently went with a Dynomax Super Turbo and 25" thrush glasspack. Started with the much more expensive Ultraflow SS, but it was way too loud. Loud enough that I felt like earplugs were needed, and not much better than the cofee-can exhaust on the car when I bought it. The Super Turbo was half the cost and sounded so much better, no fart sounds when letting off the gas, which I guess is because it's not a straight through design like my last two mufflers.
The Super Turbo sends the exhaust through an S-shape inside the muffler instead of straight out. It's quieted down even more after several hundred miles, but it roars at WOT and has a nice deep tone at idle that says it's not stock without being obnoxious. Above 65mph it's as silent as stock, but at 60-65mph in 5th there is an annoying resonance in the cabin. I'm putting down Fatmat.
Less than half the flow of the Ultraflow, but that's the tradeoff. 410 cfm should still be enough for our engine if it's NA. I'm thinking about getting a 2.5" resonated tip to see if that will quiet it just a bit more.
i cant do a straight through design anymore cause its illegal i believe. my friend keeps getting pulled over in his rx7 cause the dual straight-through mufflers. Ive heard magnaflows and i like their sound, ive never heard of dynomax before. my o2 sensor? nope its still out. still got a CEL and a leak at the headers. THANKS OBX

get HKS the rear section doesn't look that bad and with my OBX headers, KRD mid-pipe, n HKS rear section it sounds bad ass and a deep tone to it. cost quite a lot of pennies but worth the deal and power. (come on now OBX ain't that bad there stuff have worked great for me so far).
I've noticed with a header "quiet" isn't really an option anymore. I've got 2.25" piping with a high-flow cat, 26" Dynomax glasspack, and Tsudo muffler w/ 4" tip. It's got a nice low tone to it and isn't too loud, but at high-RPM WOT it will definitely wake up the neighbors.
