I did when my clutch was about dead. Sometimes the only way I could get into 1st or reverse was by turning the car off, putting it in those gears, and then turning it back on. With a lot of effort I could usually get into first though with the car running, or if I could roll a bit.
Unfortunateley it cant be the clutch as i have recently changed it and only has under 5000kms on it It was also doing it before i did the new clutch as well
No its not the clutch at all. I know exactly what your talking about. It doesnt grind or anything, it just doesnt go in gear right? And you have to let the car roll a little to get it all the way in gear, right? I have asked about this before and didnt really get an answer, so id like to know why as well if anyone knows.
Some trannies just do that. My Tib used to do it before the transmission was replaced. Now, it never does it. All manuals don't go right in to reverse sometimes.....it's just the way it is.
I did notice that when I switched to Redline MT-90 synthetic tranny fluid the problem wasn't as bad.
Well, putting in a new clutch eliminated it completely for me, although I also switched from what I believe was the original 75w85 Hyundai gear oil to synthetic base 75w90 at the same time. So I would think it's related to one of those things. In any case, after that work the above issue was completely gone for me.
