Default 01 Tib CAI Question

Why is it that AEM CAI are more expensive than everyone else?

What price are you talking about and compared to which other intakes. Cheapest one in the HP shop. I paid $240 for mine about a year and a half ago. Worth every penny I.M.O.

It's name brand... it also costs money for the CARB approval. There are AEM knock offs on ebay if you want to go cheap.

Mainly, you're paying for the fact that it's Cali legal and the warranty. There are cheap knock-offs with no warranty and no CARB approval, but remember.... you get what you pay for.

Do AEM CAI get more HP out of your car then the cheap knock offs?

I have never dyno'd mine, but yes you can feel it. The stock intake is very restrictive, so your car will breathe better. Best bang for the buck over any mod IMO. Well that and Phuzznuts 1.8L dipstick.

I've used both AEM and an AEM knockoff CAI on the same setup - can't tell the difference between the two. There's probably like 1/10 hp difference, and the whole legality thing, but if you don't care for that, the ebay AEM knockoffs perform well.
