Both! A car is either electronic fuel injection (EFI) or carburated. I think you're confusing a carburetor with the throttle body. All EFI cars have a throttle body.

99% of cars haven't been carbureted for a long time...early '90s at the latest.

To put it (very) simply...a carburetor mecahnically (and poorly) controls air AND fuel intake, whereas an EFI setup uses the throttle body to control air intake, and fuel is supplied in precise amounts via the fuel injectors as dictated by the engine computer.

To learn more:

I think you are talking about the difference between EFI (electronic fuel injection) and TBI (throttle body injected)??

Our cars (EFI) have individual injectors for each cylinder. We also have a throttle body.

Then there's TBI. I have a geo metro that's TBI - it has one injector for all 3 (yes 3!) cylinders placed right after the throttle body.

You can get bored TB's at www.teamsr.org and at www.kspec.com
You will have little to no gains with a bored TB unless you bore your intake manifold also.
But since you don't have any performance mods listed, I would suggest getting an itake first, then a full exhaust including header prior to buying a TB.
