first off i was racing n then my gears weren't really catching good any more. like i couldn'd get in to second or fourth, unless i pushed up the the upper gears then i was able to drive it alomst home. i took the tranny out got another one then looked at them both n found out that there is a pin that holds the shaft that shifts the gears, it pop out i'm not sure if u know what i'm talking about. but it is where the shift cables connect to the shaft that goes into the tranny. i put a roll pin in there but it comes out now n then when i pound on the car. i was thinking about welding the pin in there so that it won't come out but not sure if that is a good idea or not. plus i tried to adjust the cable so my 2nd n 4th gears were't too long but that didn't do much.

i wouldnt weld that pin on there because when you have to remove the tranny you got to take that pin out. try a cotter pin if you can get one to fit or something. i know what pin your talking about but thats good news your tranny isnt going bad:

if you want some pics i have a way for you to make urethane shifter bushings. they make the shifts much stiffer and it doesnt cost more than 14 dollars hit me at erikgsi@excite.com
