Re: Wheel Spacers
I have 18x7" rims on my 97 tib right now, without wheel spacers. I have no problems with rub and I am also lowered about 1.5". I had wheel spacers at first because I have the captive rotor setup. This means that where the wheel mates up to the spindle, it hits the four bolts that mount the rotor to the spindle. Therefore, to get the wheel to mate up flush, I had to put spacers in to give me a flat mounting surface (so the wheels wouldn't hit the four bolts). I later decided just to grind out enough of the smaller bolt pattern lug holes in my wheels so the bolts would fit inside them. I did not like the spacers because I only had about 1/4" of lug nut engagement onto the stud. One of my wheels almost fell off! Also some say that spacers wear out the wheel bearings faster. If it was me, I would not even waste my money on them, especially if you don't even have captive rotors. Good luck man.
