Default Exhaust for 2001 Tib

I have a 2001 Tib and am looking at upgrading the exhaust system. There are several kits available including the catback, headers with down pipe, and the all included engine back kit. The engine back kit includes what is called a "test cat pipe", which I already know is just a pipe with the catalytic converter flanges on it.

What I need to know is: Will I see a good power improvement with just the catback kit? Or can the same be said about the header with downpipe kit? I live in an area that requires emissions testing so that has to be considered as well. Any info will help.

if ur area has emissions, then a test pipe will fail you before they even pull your car in. pick up a high flow cat from catco, and you will be fine.

So, what you are saying is the engine back kit with a high flow cat is the way to go?

There will still be a bottleneck at the header, then cat if you do just a cat-back. You really have to go all or nothing if you want to see any gains. I have a 4-1 header and 2.48in catback. I have the test pipe but have not installed it as I think it will drop the backpressure too much and cost me some low end hp. So I still have the second stock cat installed. If I was going to use the test pipe I was going to set it up to be able to swap out when I go for emissions testing.
