Default Went to get a price on my Tib... close...

Well, today I went and talked $$$ with my local Hyundai dealer. The old guy I dealt with was kinda old but friendly and he admitted right away that I probably know more about the car than everyone there. hehehe

I'm planning on going BASE 2003 Tiburon in red with the 5-speed tranny.

The CDN MSRP on the car is $19,995 and he told me to add $1,000 to that, so $20,995. I'm really not sure how much room there is to work from that though? Think I'd be able to negotiate that down a bit?

The big key here is selling my Sunfire for at least $8,000. I'm going back to drive the Tibby on Sunday and let them take a look at my current car and make a trade-in offer.

As for my thought regarding the Tiburon... I was reluctant to even look at the car last week. I was dead set on either buidling up a Z24 with TRD parts, a T3 turbo and a Bomex kit, or getting a EK Civic hatch with a Tsunami kit and doing a B16B swap.

Then I saw the new Tiburon. THEN I saw the price and I was sold! What a car.
The visibility sucks though, but the seats are nice, the dash is simple but sporty, and I love the hatch.

Hmm...perhaps you go into town and shop around a bit. If the dealer knows that you've been shopping around for a good deal..perhaps they'll be kind to you in order to get your business. I'm not really too sure if you can get below MSRP...since these cars are pretty new and are in real HIGH demand. But, I commend you on your choice...=)

Thanks, I think I'll do a little shopping around.

There isn't a shortage of Tiburons, that's for sure. Annacis Island (ye' local place where imported cars go before dealers) currently yeilds over 5,000 fresh of the boat Hyundais.

Gotta get a Tib.

Well i live in flordia well North West. I went and looked at the new tibby. The base model they wanted 15900 for and the gt they wanted 19900. so you guys in CN are getting screwed. I will not the 03. It dosen't look well though out. The inside looks kinda cheap. But that's just me.

Catcher,

Note that the canadian dollar and u.s. dollar are not the same. Just like money everywhere else in the world doesn't directly equal u.s. dollars. You have to use what's called an Exchange rate.

Sunfighter, you should seriously shop around. When you bring in a trade-in to Hyundai, they try to screw you any way they can, trust me, I know. So good luck!

Yup! I'm in BC....

If I get this Tiburon, we seriously need to launch a BC or Pacific Northwest Tiburon club (Flux should be interested as well)... I'm in BC J-Body now and we have over 100 members....

How do you figure we're the ones getting screwed?

At the $1.59 cdn to the US dollar, your base tib works out to over $25,000 cdn, instead of under $20,000, with your GT ringing the bells at $31,641, instead of just over $29,000 (and WE get traction control).

Now, WHO'S getting screwed here? Certainly not us.
