Default Bad at conering

In my on going research on the 2003 Tiburon, in the Auto Week mag. that I got last week it said that the Tib's coner abilty was poor. The reason they gave is that the V6 might be to heavy for the front end and when conering there is a lot of over steer. They also stated that using the breaks can help this a little. Would anyone know if applying a beefier upper sway bar will help perventing this? Also while on performance there is no way the Tib does a 0-60 in the 8's. I drove the 6 speed verison and that fucker is a small rocket. I think the 8 second times that are being posted are from the European version cause all the pieces that I read on the Tib are when they tested the European verison of the Tib. So I still think the American version is still not tested.

Yes you are correct, the European version of the tib is a detuned version. It only produces 168HP compared the the US version of 181.

Autoweek doesn't know what the hell they're talking about.

I measured the 0-60 time to be 7.3 seconds, others have found 7.2-7.5 seconds. As for the handling, I took it around some "25mph" corners (recommended speed) at 60mph and couldn't break the grip loose.

Also, Sport Compact Car praised the handling of the new Tib heavily in their review of it.

I guess it matters where you take it and how hard you push it. I think this car is going to be great, and even if so, every car has some downside that a little aftermarket goody bins can't help.

You know...if you ask me, I dont give a horseshit what others say, just drive the car yourself and learn the goods and bads about it...

Yah, I've read a couple of reviews that it understeers badly, and others saying the understeer is more than managable with correct breaking and e braking. As far as the 0-60 i've read it'll do 7.6 and these guys above have it goin even faster...so yah the handling is in the eyes of the driver.

For me, it's 10,000 cheaper than a similarly performing Celica/RSX. So if i tune it slightly it'll match any # those cars could post.

guys (and gals) just pick up the freakin issue of sport compact car that you can find on your newsstands currently. they picked it as one of the 8 great rides of the year and kept on and on about the supurb cornering and handling. anyone tells you it sucks, sucks harder. personally, i have taken one corner just a bit faster than i probally should have, and the car just kinda shrugged its shoulders and kept on goin. the poor grand am GT that was er, uh, not trying to race exactly, but was i guess trying to see my tail lights closer (didnt get the chance) lost control on the same corner about the same speed and smacked the curb. oh well. those american compact or whatever you call them people. anyway, the handling is great, just read those who can really evaluate a car.

Yeah I can tell you the 2003 Tib handles much better than the 2001s....the handling is quite good....I really haven't found a corner I couldn't take...Those 17"s really stick!

They obviously didn't drive the US GT version. I've autocrossed in it twice. This car has an excellent off-the-showroom floor suspension. Check this thread http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/forums/snitz/topic.asp?a=&t=8001

Here are the results from this past weekend. Look at my (GS #5, Thom Smith) time compared to the other stock cars. Only 2 Miatas in C Stock had faster times. Note that I beat the Porsche Boxters that competed in Super Stock.
