Ummm, hypothetically speaking, if you drive your automatic transmission like this... "Shifting from 1 to 2 to D upon accelerating, and downshifting from D to 2 to 1 when decelerating (depending on the RPM range of course)", will this F--- up the transmission? If so, what components does it f--- up???? Please help (hypothetically of course).

It shouldn't fuck up anything otherwise they wouldn't let you do that. Just don't shift when not needed. You can shift a auto just like an manual with no effects. That is why I don't get why they added that little gate on new tranny's and call it shiftronic, technically it was already a shiftronic. Also it acts just like a shiftronic in all ways except one, it won't upshift for you if you start going to redline. Hope this helps.

The reason it is a shifttronic is because it is a lot easier to shift between gears. Also unlike the automatic, you can goto a 5th gear.

Well, then I have a problem. My 200 Tiburon (approx. 20k miles on it and no problems up to this point) is giving me hell.
Here is what is happening...for the last week it has been acting up. It idles REALLY rough! When I initially turn it on after not driving it for a couple of hours, I put it into gear (whether reverse when backing up or drive when going forward) and the car will die on me unless I give it gas to keep it off idle). Then when I am driving, I press the accelerator and sometimes the car hesitates then surges. Now I drive the way I mentioned all the time because it has more power and acceleration doing it that way (shifting method), and the exhaust sounds better (yeah stupid reason I know but it is true).
So I have a couple of ideas why it might be doing that. I had the car shipped from California to Guam when I moved to Guam. It wasn't driven for like 3 weeks until it arrived on the island. I noticed it was a little weak at first when I first started driving it. I thought maybe it was just me or something.
Could it be...the fuel filter? I don't think it ever has been changed yet (car has 20k miles). My friend had a similar idling problem and his car would turn off on him. It was an Accent. He changed the fuel filter and it worked great after that/
Could it be the spark plugs? I just put them on before I shipped the car over (I put them on in late Jan. early Feb. so they should be in good condition still). They are Denso Iridium spark plugs. Now I did not gap them when I put them on. Supposedly they were pre-gapped for the car so I didn't bother. Someone told me that platinums, copper, and iridium spark plugs should be gapped farther apart than standard spark plugs. Could that be the problem? Also, Guam has really hot weather moreso than California so could the plugs be too hot or too cold for the engine? I'm not sure which one they would be.
If rain got into the air intake would it cause the engine to idle rough and hesitate and surge like it is doing? I mean, it rains very often but I don't think any rain has gotten into the air intake. It is possible though.
Please help guys. I really need some advice. Thanks alot.

Hey come on fellow tuners. I know someone must have a solution to the problem. Please help if you know the solution. Thanks.

^saint,
How do you get a car in 5th gear using shiftronic when it is only a 4speed? Secret gear?
Also about pre-gap for the cars they are usually not all well that gapped from what I have heard. I am not sure. I guess since you are in Gaum you can't just run over to your Hyundai dealer. It could be your fuel filter that is dirty, dirty airfilter, and maybe your spark plugs are just not good spark plugs. This is the only conclusions I can draw to. Also there could just be something wrong with your tranny. Someone else has got to know this answer. So check your stuff out and hope you find answers.

check ur 02 senser, that and there's is a computer chip that controls the amount of gas ur enging gets, it could be flooding ur engine, is there any unusua black exhuast?
Check the following...what has been written before, and then the fuel filter, plug wires, while the wires are out look for moisture in the plug well that may be causing arcing. Then get the ohmmeter out and check the resistance of the wires and coil, this will tell you if any of these 2 vital components are malfunctioning. Also, check the vacuum hose that leads top the FPR for cracks and looseness, if pressure bleeds by then you will not be getting the correct amount of fuel per RPM band, if this is ok then check the vacuum of the FPR itself, the diaphram may have become ruptured from lack of use, and this may be causing your problem. Email me if these do not work...
