These cars have a common problem with the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and it could cause the problem you have. Getting the CEL read should point you in the right direction. The TPS originally on the car would be made by Dae Sung. The replacement for these was made by Kefico and is much more reliable.

I doubt it is the intake manifold itself. I've never heard of a cracked intake manifold. It could be a failed gasket causing a vacuum leak.

yeah dont owrry about it...its a sensor...if theres a cold air intake it could be your mas airflow sensor..mine did it awhile back..I had to frig around with the sensors (clean them etc) and it worked fine...most likely its your throttle position sensor..but just put it on a scan tool and that will tell you your problem..its nothign serious

I've went through that in the past as well(tps issue), when I put on a 1g eclipse TB I messed up the tps and it cause the same issue as a bad maf, bad cts, bad FPR. It could be numerous things.. .. .. I got the replacement ands its given me no such issue.

Why doesnt the mechanic do a boost leak test where he pressurizes the intake manifold and see if it holds? Theres no point in ripping out gaskets just cause they "think" that theyre bad.

My high flow fuel pump only flows more when theres a need for it, theres currently not a need so I get the same gas mileage as if I didnt have it.
