Default 2003 Tib replacing the infinty radio?

Any one know how to remove the cover that’s on the Infinity cd cassette combo radio. I want to expose the radio to remove it and put in my Kenwood Excelron radio. And is there any mounting kits out there right now for the 2003 tib? Thanks

Well im not 100% sure but I heard somewhere here or teamsr.org that you have to remove the ashtray and go from there to get the dash off. I asked my dealer about the brushed aluminum dash for my '03 and they said they would probally have to install it for me. Im not really stupid on how to install things like that, but if the dealer says it would be hard to install I think I would be able to do it. But first thing to check is pull the ashtray out and see if there is some kind of bolt there, if not the dash piece should be held on by clips of some sort just like the 2000 tibs. I haven't removed my dash peice yet but will be doing it very soon for an aftermarket reciever. I have not seen any of these Infinity stereos yet except at the auto show and my guess it would be close to 4 or 6 bolts holding the deck in there.

As for the mounting kits im not sure but my guess would be ask the dealer if there is a mounting kit for it. I know that my deck is a single din reciever and I have a little pocket below it for storage and it all comes from the dealer like that.

If your looking for a wiring harness I think someone on this board mentioned you can get one at a Bestbuy? I think thats what its called (Im from Canada) Please anyone correct me if im wrong. Its too late here but maybe tomorrow mourning when I get up i'll see if I can get my dash piece off and see just exactly what needs to be done.

Well I have an update for you about removing the dash piece and to me it seems easy and there is no screws that you have to remove. It is just like the 2nd gen tibs with little clips that hold the dash together but I will warn you all, that when you try to remove the dash trim that all the switches like the hazard lights and fog lights are all connected right to the dash trim. I have a set of instructions that came with my kit from the factory that explain how to take the piece off and install it. I'll scan it for you tonight and post it for you all. Im gonna get my dealer to install my kit for me, so im not liable for any problems like the clock and all the other crap.

If you havent figured it out now guys its the simplest car ive done yet for deck installs. Pull the ashtray out of the holder and pull the tray out about 2" or so. That will give you enough room for you to get ahold of the lower lip of the trim. Pull firmly but not jerking at the bottom corner of the trim until the bottom corner snap comes out. Their are about 7 or 8 more snaps holding the trim in so work your way around the trim. Once it it out just unplug the 5 harnesses plugging in (the bottom ones can be a bitch) and youve got it. There are just 4 screws holding the infinity in. This is probably the worst sounding deck stock ive ever heard so Everyone Take Theirs Out! My new deck made about an 80% quality difference when i installed it. If you have any other questions let me know. It really is that easy.

I used a toyota sr5 filler on the bottom of mine. There are no kits designed for this yet though but with a drill and some patience it puts a pocket underneath your deck that looks quite factory acutally. I dont have the model number for this part right now but tomorrow I can get it for you and post a reply. Just make sure your deck is seated far enough back that it dosent stick out too far. I had problems with this. cya

Ok took two days instead of one but the model number for the dash kit to fill the gaping hole under the deck is H00-8000. And as i said its for a toyota. Beware though to anyone afraid of do it yourself projects. I had to drill a few holes to strap it into the existing mount and shaved the sides down to make it slide completely into the slot. Any dash kit like this should work though with a few modifications. For less than 20 dollars its worth doing until they make a proper dash kit for the 03. Since im done with the project ill answer any questions anyone has about deck installs. catcha all later.
