I have a new deck I want to put in my 97 tib.
How do I go about removing the factory stereo. How do I get the plastics off?
I need help.

You'll need to only take off 2 plastic pieces. The piece that surrounds the gear selector, and then the plastic piece that surrounds the stock stereo system. They're all held in by friction fasteners if I'm not mistaken...

They're easy to take out, but getting the balls to pull them off is kinda gustsy.

I opend the ashtray half way, stick my fingers in there and pop the front of the gear surroud up. After that I can yank it off. After that, just yank the stereo surround straight out. You have to take them off in that order or it won't work. They're in there pretty good, you have to get a little tough with it....Just don't grab and yank on any thin pieces and you'll be fine.
