My new Tiburon has like 3,500 miles on it. I was told that I don't need to get an oil change until every 7,500 miles. Does anyone know if thats right? I wouldn't want to mess up my engine. Please let me know Thanks.
Dunno. Ive always been used to every 3000 miles. I am going to change mine every three months just because ill feel safer than twice a year. I would reccomend castrol synthetic if twice a year is what you plan on doing.

The manual states that your oil should be changed every 7500 but if you do heavy driving - like comuting in the city ( a lot of stop lights etc. ) then you should change your oil every 3,000. I've always been happy with Mobil1 syn. and I change it evry 4000. Just remember that your oil is the life blood of the car. Changing it will determin if your car lasts 100,000 miles or 250,000.
I've heard from a few sources that you should get your oil changed sooner on a brand new car - probably around the 3K mile mark. This is because on new cars there're still remants of metal dust etc. in the engine from when it was manufactured.
One guy had the dirtiness of his oil checked for like the first 20 or so changes and in the first couple of changes his oil was really dirty, but got increasing cleaner from then on. So, I'd recommend changing your oil right now, and then stick to manual's recommended schedule from then on (or after a sooner than normal change after the first).

I wonder if anyone can confirm this as it relates to Hyundai. Some of the European cars come from the factory with "break in oil" and changing it out too soon is not recommended.
I doubt this is the case with Hyundai. My dealership scheduled me a free oil change in 3/mo.
Down the road, I am planning on using Mobil 1 and changing it every 7500.
Read your Maintenance Log! It should have come with the car's owner's manual. It was pointed out to me at the time I bought the car that the first oil change is required by Hyundai at 3450 miles. Then you get into th 5000-7500 mile changes.
The only reason anyone should have to change their oil earlier than every 5000 miles is if you are either making a lot of short trips (under 5 miles) and the motor doesn't get completely warmed up OR you are pounding the accelerator most of the time and/or driving on dusty roads a lot. Both are considered extreme driving conditions.
Otherwise, name brand oils are so much better than what was out just 10 years ago, you just don't have the sludge problems you used to see. Toyota 3.0 V6 engines excepted<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>
