The manual says that you should wait until 1200 miles before doing any hard driving. I would go at least 2000 before doing any hard driving (you would actually be better off waiting until around 5K, but who has that kind of patience .

RPMs should stay below 4000 and above 2000 while driving during the break in period.

The manual also says that you should not go above 55, no hard breaking, no hard throttle, during the break in period.

HTH

IMO, the 55mph only applies to automatics. Other than wheel bearings, what is the difference between 40 mph between 2000 & 4000 rpm, and 65-70 mph between 2000 & 4000 rpm in 5th or 6th??? Gear Ratios people.

Last I checked wheel bearings do not require breaking in.

A car with automatic is another story.

maybe if you went to your dealer and asked the service manager how many miles you should wait until you started racing the car...no wait... that may have a negative effect on your warranty prolly ought to just follow the other's advice. mine usually sux anyway. i wind up telling people to push the brake to go and the gas to stop or some bull $hit like that.
