The Cleveland Plain Dealer (Ohio) just thrashed the new TibGT.
Note: In Cleveland the vehicle of choice is a pick-up truck, SUV, Buick, Olds, or something with a NASCAR sticker.
This blows my mind, "the interior had a remarkably cheap, inelegant look, unless one is fond of hard plastic". Uhhhh geeee, sorry, there is no similated wood trim like in your Buick Park Avenue.
The interior of the new Tib IMO is better than any Ford product I have been in by far. And on par with any import VW/Honda. I think they regurgitated this line from the vintage Hyundai thrashing articles of the past...
The article goes on to slam headroom with the sunroof, lack of back seat, the rough ride...
Ummmmm again, sports coupe, not American Slush box.
Finally, they bring back up the 6 cyl weight over the nose and "uncommunicative steering". And of course "the GT's 'sport tuned suspension' is jarring and uncomfortable, exacting too high a price for the handling it offers." Bullshi+. This is not a Pontiac Grand Prix (slush box).
I love these local yolkals apple to oranges comparison.
Ahhh, but hell, most Clevelanders wouldn't know cool if came up and bit them in a$$. Thank god I will be moving to California sooner than later.

uncommunative steering? they were turning the steering wheel right? maybe they mistook it for the radio knob. sounds like a very appropriate article seeing as who wrote it. geesh.
Everyone is talking about the steering being numb and not very good at cornering, but its because the engine is so heavy, and its front wheel drive. That is not the only one who has mentioned it.
hmm. guess mine must be the only good handling tiburon GT out there then. i never have any problems with numb steering or handling. guess i must be the exception.

It would be nice if they were RWD...
I think 'uncommunicative' is a bit drastic. Turn wheel, car follows. Sounds like communication to me! I drove the bag off the one I test drove and I thought the handling was on par with the Celica GT and a bit better than the Nissan SE-R.
As for the interior, I think it's the weakest point in the car. However things like that are a matter of opinion and are very subjective.
The lack of back seat and 'hard ride' complaints you see on tons of reviews. Sometimes I think they take mix up the guys who do the sports car reviews with the guys who do full size luxury car reviews. Yes, the suspension is hard. Yes, we like it that way. Shut your bloody mouth before Hyundai changes it back!
Handling is fine. Better than 1st and 2nd gens. But... there is a heavier engine up front. It definately has poor weight distribution. So some stiffer springs up front, a strut bar in front and an anti-roll bar in back and they'll be scared to change lanes for fear of putting her accross the median

There's a little truth in most of these posts. Yes, the car has a big engine up front and is FWD so it has some understeer; please name another car with the same weight distribution that doesn't.
What I've noticed is that while the nose tends to drift high to the outside it is very predictable. It doesn't corner like a boxster, but then again I didn't pay 50K for it. It was a very different car, but that's what I liked about my 97 Accent GT. Yes it doesn't corner like a mini-cooper, but when you bang it into a corner with your foot mashed to the firewall it behaves in a very consistent manner, and drives like it feels....okay done ranting; the beer took over there for a sec.
