Default Second gear lag on 2003 GT

I have a concern and wondering if anyone elses Tiburon does this. When shifting from 1st to 2nd I feel a definite power increase after second gear hits around 3000 RPM. It almost feels like an automatic trans. shifting to a lower gear. Let me know if I need to elaborate - thanks.

Yes this is noticeable...It seems our cars just respond better to higher RPMs...when you race you won't see this lag...

I noticed that racing takes this factor out completely!

It's your where your powerband begins. I know what it means, but can't explain it. Well, I'll try. It's where you get the best / most power out of your engine in the respective gear. I believe the 2.0's powerband is like 2700 - 5400 or something like that.

yes, as described by a friend of mine, it feels as though it got kicked in teh butt at 3k rmp or so and has a whole new life and takes off hauling ass. ur not the only one who noticed it. i do wish the power band was smoother though, but at least we have the power there someplace.

i havent tried teh new v6 yet but if youre powerband is too high for your liking; get mods that target low end torque; like start with a CAI and a good set of aftermarket plugs and wires (racing wires w. bosch 4's) and then some short 3-1 headers on each side if you can find them. then boring out your TB and IM should get you the low end your car deserves.
if im wrong on any of this please feel free correct me but this is my understanding.

Boring the TB actually hurts low end. At higher speeds the engine breaths better but you get a lower manifold pressure off the line; i.e. less bottom end. It WILL help the top end however....
