Default 97 tiburon fx with a 1.8L?

i bought a 97 tiburon from a dealer nearby thinking it was an fx, but today looking at my sticker on the bottom of my hood, i have noticed its a 1.8L engine, i thought the fx came with 2.0, did i get screwed?

yes, FX = 2.0L Beta engine

If he "said" it was an FX, then he lied to you...
if thats the case, take it back to him and explain the situation and how he lied... yadda yadda... but the 1.8L preformed just as well as the beta. The FX came with more options along with the 2.0 beta... the 1.8 isnt really a bad thing

see here is where us florida boys get lost... all over the world the tib has models like gt fx type- r and so on. here its just tiburon... either u have the basic one which is the regualr 5 speed... no leather, cd player, premium sound pakage, sun roof, and fog lamps... ive only seen of two types come out of our dealers... either fully basic hyundai stock or ugraded pakages but no model change like fx and what not..

Thats because you have a 2nd gen which only cane with 1 engine choice.

The first gens in the US had 2 engine choices. A 1.8 ltr and a 2.0 ltr. (both Beta motors)

The third gen also has two engine choices. This time it is a 2.0ltr beta or a 2.7ltr V6 delta.

The only different choice they had over seas was a 1.6ltr beta motor (available in three models).

GT and FX are both codes that are used in the US.
