1) YES!, the only difference would be the Hub/Boss unit itself. It may flex the price +/- $5.
2) from my understanding, these systems are ran in circuits over seas so I would imagine the stress one would put on this unit should last for a long time. HOWEVER, you may want to check with the circuit you are presently running in to see if this sytem is allowed. If the inspector doesn't say anything come track day,.. then F**k it.
Not sure of it's FIA or SCCA approval. I'm sure they are not but I'll look into it.
I'm sure the primary purpose of this unit comming to the states is to give tunners an economicly affordable solution to the over priced real quick releases that companys such as SPARCO offers at an MSRP of $400. A pro may require such a $400 system but lets face it,.. guys on the streets want the same effect at a lower price.
Furthermore, the pro may also require the high end system do to a limited amount of available space in the cockpit where as a tuner may want the system not only to be able to look cool like a pro racer but also use the device as a security system...
(Sparco quick release)
the image below is used for example purposes only and is not the unit for sale as mentioned above. This unit sells for about $400.00 alone. No Steering wheel & no hub.
It is also available at consumers request. This unit is FIA approved for track use. I run this on my eg in the NASA circuit.
