Default crankshaft pulley

my 2003 sante fe,s crankshaft pulley came off, but the center piece stayed bolted up. I bought a new pulley and tried to pull mine off but all I do is roll the engine over. I can't find anywhere to tool block the old pulley in order to break the bolt loose. Is there a special tool required, and do I need anything else such as the small roll pin that is in the center, or more gaskets? Anyone have any advice or hints as to remove it?

Pry bar behind the hub and pry outwards some.. While holding the pry bar take a pin punch and hit the pin to push the timing belt pulley back in.. Usually works better with two people one holding the pry bar and the other hitting the pin..

don't know if you have a place for it, but i just took a ratchet, braced it against something, and tried to start the car. the starter will get the bolt off for you. worth a shot?

used to do this with my datsun..you need to be VERY CAREFULL doing this.

see if you can rent an impact gun.

If you have a M/T, put it in first and you'll only spin the motor untill it locks up with hte trans..then with a ratchet and a piece of pipe for leverage you can get it off...

then with a tq wrench you can tighten it by spinning the motor the other way.
