Since I'm wanting everything to look and sound stock, I was maybe thinking of installing the stock exhaust from the V6 Sonata on my I4 from the cat back. All I need to know is if the V6 exhaust is larger than mine. It's a bigger engine and probably moves more spent fumes than the I4 engine. If anybody knows for sure that the V6 exhaust is larger, please let me know. And yes, I like the "sleeper" concept when it comes to modding my car. Thanks in advance!
you wont get any gains even if they were diffrent
the exhaust will probably be no more than 2.0 inches and you want it at either 2.25-2.5 and the muffler itself has small passages so basically there are stock sounding exhaust out there that are stock looking like brulen(sp?) but it will cost you

Please tell me you're joking. you aren't going to generate much power at all with any sort of exhaust system from cat back, yet alone, some mix and match from the v6.
You can't have power from an n/a 4 cylinder Hyundai motor, when the car weighs over 1250kg's without making noise. Either spend your money on looks, or do performance the right way. It sounds like you'd be best of just buying a cold air induction pipe with a pod filter, and spend the rest on adjustable suspension, and a nice set of wheels.
Well I can see that I won't get any real staight answers around here. I'll just have to do everything myself without any help and prove some people wrong. And yes you CAN get power out of a n/a 4 cylinder. I've done it twice before, I can do it again.
we are not trying to hate on you here. my brother owns a 2k1 4cyl 5spd and those motors are great and reliable but are weak internally so you WONT be gettin alot of power out of it unless you have big bucks
i even heard in korea that people just swap the betas in that car and turbo it.
my brother has a cai, catback exhaust, strutbar and an eibach drop. its pretty quick now
i would say hes running mid 16's

yet again i hegly suggest a Thrush turbo muffler. Thats the closest your going to get to the stock look and sound and it will give u gains.
i put a Vortex high-flow muffler on my car and dam it looks stock but it dont sound it, but then again people cant tell the sounds comming from my car
Why would you want to run a stock exhaust? It isn't like anyone can see your piping. Get a custom built catback 2.25"-2.5" and make sure the bends are mandrel bends. Then just get a good performance muffler that looks stock and is quiter. They do make them.
Also I have said it before and will say it again. It is a Hyundai people will always assume it is slow therefore it will always be a sleeper.

There is a replacement for displacement. It is on 2 wheels and 600cc.
The reason for the stock exhaust is to have it completely quiet so I can enjoy listening to my stereo at a normal level instead of having to crank it all the time. Not only that, it gets damn annoying hearing that exhaust (mostly at cruising speed), just a constant note humming over the music. Besides, if the V6 exhaust is just a little bit bigger, that will probably help smooth out the torque curve on the top end rpms instead of nosing over near redline. Everybody has their reasons for modding their cars the way they want, and this is mine. :smoking:
Ok, that is fine but you can still have a custom built catback with a quite "stock looking" muffler for less money then buying a factory stock exhaust and you will probably get better gains.

thats true u can buy a stock looking muffler that almost resembles the V-6 Sonatas muffler for probably half the price and i know more then half the weight of those stock mufflers.
Trust me they weigh alot
