Default now dont everyone get mad

i was wondering that if hyundai shares its drivetrain with kia would it be feasable to assume that a 5 speed out of a kia would bolt up to my 2000 sonata gls v-6?
also if kia has any mods or kits would they be able to be fitted on my car? i mean i dont want it to look like a kia but if it has same parts like side skirts and other stuff that looks neutral would it work?

any answers or comments would be great
thanks all:lol:

I don't see any reason for anyone to get mad at this question. i was in this position 3 years ago myself. Yes you can use body parts from other cars, and be lucky and have them fit right on, or for a bit extra, you can have it custom made to fit your car. My front bar is from a 200sx s14 series for example, and was custom made to fit my car, my side skirts are from an HSV holden commodore, and luckily, fit the length perfect. As for Kia motors/gearboxes, i'm not so sure of the kia lineup, but i know that there is one model of large 4 door sedan that is fairly similar in look and design to the sonata. I think that the side skirts for that car will fit the sonata, but i'm not positive of it. With the gearbox, best thing to do is go to your local mechanical library, and have a look at the bellhousing (face of the gearbox) measurements and compare one to another.

I was the one that said 5spds were extremly rare in the states and Hyundai equiped most of their sixes with autos. So rare that it would be hard to find one. It is worth a look. I wish I knew if the 5spd for the 4cyl would bolt up?

You could also call up your local dealer and ask about it...see how much a new tranny would be?

yea the 5spds are extremely rare but ask the dealer
they must be able to order you one... but they will probably rip you off ofcoarse so i guess your quest is logical, probably would be cheaper
