Default S Power Review

i've had my 1999 GLS for about a year now, and i am content with the car. for an automatic, it moves so so. i raced it against my old(school)mobile cutlass V-6 and it barely beat the iron pushrod. it is my first car with DOHC and most of the time i don't even rev past 2000 rpm during acceleration. i have hit red line while racing some random people, and i can squeal the tires any time i want during take off (even with people in the car). in my opinion, the car could use more power inbetween 40 mph and 60 mph, where it sort of mopes around. of course, the aftermarket parts have been disappointing, and even with the new Tib there aren't that many options. my only other complaint is that the transmission has a noticeably strange "shift down" at around 30 mph while coasting, and it sort of feels like the car drops into drive gear 3. my used car warranty is almost up, and now i plan to make some "custom" mods to see if i can whoop japanese ass all the time.

For one your car has a fuzzy logic transmission which decreases engine speed(engine Braking) so that it is more sporty(like manual downshifting etc.) It is about the only auto that doesnt require brakin to get to a lower gear. It also has the capability to skip a gear for faster acceleration example: normal auto 4,3,2,1/sonata auto 4,3,1. Anyway you should look into getting an intake. There is one company that makes an intake for the sonata, and that is Weapon R (weaponr.com) The Dragon intake they say is for the 2000 V6, but I have a 99 GL and it fits mine, so it will fit 99-01 V6s or I4s. That will improve your midrange, as well as your off the line. Your car makes 170 hp and 166 lbs. ft of TQ the intake will increase that to 179 hp and 173 lbs. ft of TQ dyno proven. On mine it made 9.4 hp and 7.3lbs. ft. of TQ to the wheels(on a 4cyl.)

And one more thing. You should buy a Torque converter (www.converters.com) Have one made for you. It in itself frees up tons of horsepower and torque, and(no offense) puts 5-speeds to shame. It is second to nitrous as far as instant gratification and results goes. Go read about at that website, I'm satisfied.
