Default ABS option on Sonata...

Our 2002 Sonata owners manual says that the rear brakes on non ABS equipped cars are drums and that discs are only on the rear if you have ABS. Our new '02 has discs, but ABS was not on the window sticker, nor does the ABS idiot light come on upon startup. So which is it? I have also noticed that i can't find an ABS pump assy. in the engine bay anywhere. How can i tell for sure if I have ABS or not???

The quickest and most adventurous way, is to just get out on a quiet road, and slam the breaks on whilst not going too fast on a wet road.

My car came with the abs plugs, cruise control, and some other strange plugs, that i noticed actually in my centre console behind the stereo that weren't hooked up, as my car is the gle version.

in some countries in the world, you are either lucky or not. beenpit has drums on the back of his sonata the same model as mine, i have 4 wheel discs.

Actually I have a GLS, but Canadian GLS's are different from those in the states. Since Canadians buy more small cars, the Canadian GLS is basically exactly like the next model down with a couple small standard features. For example the US GLS I think comes standard with the V6 and alloys.

only the base sonata comes with drums. upper class sonata like LX and GLS and all the others come with Disc only if you get the V6 option. You will know if you have ABS if it was listed in the sticker or you got it as an option package. ALso the light would show up. You don't have ABS.
