Default Newbie to the hyundai world

In a couple of weeks i will be purchasing a 2k3 sonata gls. for those of you that own them now how do you like them and is there anything that i should know about them. I am the former owner of 95' Nissan Maxima GLE. That was a great car and i don't really think that it can be topped, but hopefully im wrong.

Welcome to the site.

Hmm.. Maxima to a Sonata. You're probably right about not matching up, although the Sonata is a pretty nice car, the Maxima has its own strengths.

I'm not sure when the new Sonata model is coming out, but the current one is pretty nice. I really like the styling of the rear (Jaguar like), but the front I'm not too happy about (Mercedes like).

We have quite a few Sonata owners here who are great so they'll likely drop by and give you some help.

http://www.sonataspeed.com/ is run by a member and is a Sonata specific forum and website. It's not as active as these forums because its fairly new, but most of the same members from here are over there.

Welcome to the boards! 8D

What aspects of the car do you look at when considering a purchase?

Always great to add another Sonata member!

Though the 2.7L found in the Sonata isn't able to handle as much power as the 3.0L you likely had in your Maxima (and 300Z isn't it?), it can put down quite a bit of power. You have most of the parts found for the Tiburon as you would for the Sonata which puts a nice little advantage in your court.

Personally I love the Sonata for the price, and with the money saved, good ol Alpine supercharger will have the Sonata competing with the brand new Maximas.

Besides the Sonata has that sorta 'pimp it out' look to it already.

Welcome...

I'm glad to hear we have another member of the Hyundai family. You made a fantastic choice buying a Sonata. I've had 2 so far and wouldn't drive anything else...accept maybe an XG-350, but they didn't have that in 2000 when I got my new 2000 Sonata. I had a '95 sonata GLS I bought back in the summer of '94 and that car is what got me hooked on Hyundai's...I have got to be the biggest Hyundai fan on the face of the planet....lol

All I can tell ya is..the sonata is an outstanding car.....I think you'll be very pleased with it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask...either myself or the other guys and gals on here I'm sure will be more than happy to assist you.

Where I worked, it was 3 years and 100,000km, or whichever is reached first.
