Both engines come with a 5spd manual tranny standard and and automatic is optional. Most of the 6bangers come with a shiftronic automatic, but you have to search hard if you want to row your own gears in the 6.

Oh ya I remember this conversation with the dealer when my friend wanted to get a manual here in Canada. There is no such thing as 5-speeds here. We were going to swap in the 6-speed, but then problems with warranty, cost etc he ended up just buying something else.

I didn't think they made a manual in the V6 here in the U.S.....At least they're not available where I'm from. I was thinkin I would do an engine swap from my 4cyl. to a 6cyl. and see if I can't mate it with a 6-spd Tiburon tranny. That would give it some extra pep......Anyone know if thats possible?

I just thought that I'd throw in here and say that I just bought an 2003 LX on Monday and my moonroof was listed as $550, not $700. Aparently not all the dealerships have gotten the news yet... Buy them now before the dealers actually hear about it and start charging more (then again, if you're actually paying the MSRP, or even close to it, you have some problems).

all USDM 89-98 sonatas came automatic. all USDM 99-03 sonatas came in choice of auto/manual, regardless of engine.

i used webtech for the research...FYI
