Hi Eveyone,
I was wondering if anyone out their knows where i can get a new dash or used for my hyundai Sonata? I would like to change the coluer of my dash and i don't know if it's better to paint the dash or replace it. If i paint my dash does ayone out there know what type of paint would work. What do you guys think
I've used vinyl dye with good results on computer monitors and car panels.
I don't know if I would do a dash with it though especially since on our cars (or my year anyway 2001) like a flat finish. Plus you'd have to take it out to do it and I have no desire to mess with airbags.
I'd suggest the easier route would be trim pieces for your gauge cluster, climate control, shift lever area, and window controls on the doors. I've seen wood and carbon fiber kits with look pretty cool. Couple that with some indiglo gauges and it might get you the look you're looking for.

Hey bud,
I would like to thank you for your repilly
I agree with the painting of the trim peices in the car. It will give your inteirior a secondary accent to have your eyes gaze at. What exterior/interior color do you have? Do you have leather/cloth? Woodtrim or plastic?

I just put a woodgrain kit in mine...that made a big difference...I didn't install all the pieces in the kit cause it would have looked kinda cheap..so I just selected a few pieces and installed them....it looks awesome.
No...I didn't like the factory woodgrain that was available on my Sonata back in 2000..there were only 2 choices....a ugly grey woodgrain, or a really cheap looking yellow/orangey woodgrain. So I wanted to stick with the plain black trim...so the aftermarket woodgrain kit I got was like a red burlwood....and I didn't like the look of all the pieces installed, so I only installed a few choice pieces. I was looking at interiors of different cars in a book of new cars that I have, and all the high end cars with woodgrain inside only have small amounts of it...so I thought having too much looked cheap. I put the pieces on all 4 doors that go around the power window buttons, and the small piece around the gearshift indicators on the console, and a small piece around the hazzard flasher button between the two vents at the top of the dash....and thats all. Its just enough of it to dress it up in a classy way rather than a tacky way...lol
there are multiple sites that sell pre-fab kits like this. and u can get them in things like woodgrain and c/f. but they are only overlays, so yes, they are quite cheap. you'd probably only would have to do a google search and compare prices from multiple sites.
