Default Automatic Transmission Programming

Hey how is everyone? My car is back(finally!) after a costly repair to the transmission(basically a new unit). I've learned not to shift it down now when it is not in the gear I want it to be in. My question to all of you is if there is anyway I could recieve a fix for the programming in the transmission? It LOVES third gear, even all the way down at 5MPH from a rolling stop(yes, yes, thats illegal). Usually I'd shift it down to "2" or even "L" if a huge truck was pulling on me fast. Don't you think that the programming of the transmission(fast upshift, lazy downshift) is in some cases unsafe? At 5MPH, I expect it to be in first gear, not third. Thanks for reading and hope to talk to you all soon!

Thanks
-2liter
