Your car is actually a Y1. the Y2's began with my shape which was the first of the plastic looking sonatas. You wrote that you haven't found much about modifying your car. The reason is that the market does not exist for your car. If you want to do an engine swap, then find a 4G63T from a galant vr4 sedan, or DSM like Thomas from canada did with his Y1 sonata (nickname is turbo_hyundai). Go through the hybrid, and sonata forums, and look for his posts first before asking a bit more :

2 DSM-SONATA

Hey, don't know why u said THAT my baby is Y1, cause I as i saw in catalogue, mine (with such engine 16v DOHC) goes from 1992-1993......
************************************************** *************

Sonata 2.0 ohc (1991-1993) 102 hp

Sonata 2.0 16v DOHC (1993-1996) 139hp <------ This one is mine. Cause under the hood is written DOHC
And i don't know how come in my log book is written that car is 1991....how come? Maybe the previous owner changed the engine....

It's pretty straight forward mate, i said it because you gave me a year number, and i gave you the code. All you need to do is look at the shape of my car in my signature and tell me if your car is the same shape, or if it is the older style. The older style is a Y1.

Do you actually read what I type? I'm sick of giving advice to those that don't listen.

Your car is a Y1, it is not a Y2. The car you are referring to here is the car i just mentioned in my reply.

I can't make it anymore obvious for you than for you to look at this page.

DOHC, listen to what he has to say for gods sake.. if you have a y1 or y2 than he'll know.

......

Newbie, listen and learn and dont get on your high horse all of a sudden.. just a quick tip if you want to stay here on HPF or get flamed to death.

And a quick lesson on "good friendship"

"This one is as mine! I think this is Y2! What do u say?"

That is the wrong answer, I shall correct it for you newbie:

"I think this car is mine, I think it might be a Y2, what do you think?"

Would you like a leapfrog pad for that conversation?...

I'm done...
