Default Instruction on how to replace gauge bulbs..."Pics"

So,here's my first step by step on how to replace thoses low light wedge bulb's on the dash gauge's on the XG And many other hyundai vehicles,
Use this to replace bulbs on any other hyundai's like the Sonata or the GK,

you need to take this column Cover off..pull out gently..latex gloves recommended

Take out the 2 screw's that hold the gauge bezel intact to the dashboard

this is what it look's like after you've taken I've taken the Plastic bezel off

Take out the 4 screw's holding the gauge pod, there's 2 on each side
I recommend using a magnetic screwdriver since they can fall easily into the holes,

after the screw's have come off, slowly pull it out partially, don't bother to disconnect the connectors..you'll have enough room the swap the bulbs

this is what it look's like on the other side

take out these knob's which house the wedge bulb's on them..they're simple to take out, just twist and pull,
Note:There are 6 of these knobs, 6 big ones..leave the other small knobs alone as they are the fuel and oil pressure/battery..etc light's

after you've swapped the bulb's with your xenon bulb of choice, put the gauge pod back on the plastic white panel where the 4 hole thread's for the screw's are,
Mount the pod properly, screw the 4 screw's in just snugly...tighten it too much and there's a chance you'll strip the plastic thread hole so be careful

after you've done that, take the gauge bezel and snap it back onto the dashboard cavity,
push it so you hear 2 snaps and put the 2 screw's on the top of the bezel,
NOTE:The screw's for the gauge pod and the bezel are different,
gauge pod screw's have a wider washer neck whereas the bezel screw's have a narrower washer neck,

after that take the steering column cover and snap it back in place

and there you have it,

hope this help's

Great Post TAK82. I don't drop by this board often, but am glad I did as the dim gauge lights on the XG (at least on my model year) have been bugging me for a while. Why does a car like the Honda Civic have such great gauge lights and the XG's gauge lights makes one wonder if the alternator needs to be replaced, even at max lighting? uzzled:

I've considered swapping them out but wasn't sure where to start. You've made it clear with the pics, and your earlier post of the final results look exactly like what I was looking for. Thanks again.

I'm glad you found it useful..although some of my pic's have red x's on em, it's probably cause of my hoster,

I reason some car's instrument gauge's light's are different are because of the bulb's and how the gauge cluster pod is designed,

I've noticed how some late model Vehicles like Suzuki XL-7,Lexus,and the Accord or the optional white faced gauged corolla have such bright gauges,
it's probably because they use a higher wattage bulb, Manufacterer's use a tiny blue rubber Boot to be covered on the bulb's to emit a faint whiter lumen output on the gauges

Some probably use powerful hyper white led's,
Aside from the aftermarket, I'd stay away from the "Varad" Hyper LED Wedge Bulbs,

Although they look nice with the fancy labeling and packaging
the small micro LED's just can't muster enought light to brighten the gauges,
and they most certainly aren't worth a "Mr.Jackson" in my wallet,

The japanese B1 Hybrid bulb's have a faint purplish but white light that's a also a good bulb,

I'll continually post pic's on what further modificaton's I do to my XG,
in the meantime, Forgive my blurry Pic's on previous post,:
