Default '05 Magentis comes with 5 speed.

The '05 Kia magentis (Canadian name for the Optima) comes with the I4 and a 5 speed + pwr sunroof as part of a 60th anniversary pkg.
I have always thought my Sonata would be a much nicer car with the 5 spd, but they were never offered in Canada, and if you bring one from the US, the warranty ends at the border.
Wondering peoples thoughts.... Any 5 speed Sonata owners comment on the ratios, clutch feel etc.. i.e. is it a sporty trans w/ close enough ratios.. I would have to order one sight unseen if I wanted one. The price is vy attractive.
Are the Kia's built in the same plant? or are they just a common platform?. I assume the 2.4 Kia engine is the Hyundai 2.4...not a Kia copy...

hyundai and kia share many parts..mostly it's kia using hyundai part's in all of their vehicles,

The sonata's Manual isn't exactly Driving Enthusiast Type material but it's just a ordinary 5-speed for low cost reasons..accelertion, fuel economy, and ease of maintenance and a bit of fun rowing your own gears,

I've droven a manual EF and The Shifts are long and a but rubbery but decently smooth..rubber shift knob is unappealing also..gear ratio's seem Okay..

It's sad to say hyundai support's automatic's for the Average Pampered Lazy american and don't give much attention to the manuals,
heck..it's pretty rare to see a hyundai mid-size sedan with a stick in a dealer lot
The Magentis Share's Many part's with the sonata..engine,tranny,door panels,dash,interior,

it's just that the optima look's Like a handsome sports sedan while the sonata is a comfortable Mini Like lexus,

The 2.4 Litre Sirius Engine"Yes..it's same as EF And optima" ain't that much appreicated either since aftermarket part's are very rare..probably the only things you can do is intake,plugs,wires,port&polish..header's have to be custom made..dunno about the exhaust
Nothing internal,

No kidding -- it took a month even to find my Accent! (there were some manuals, but they were all the bare-bones stripped models) In America, you're only going to find manual transmissions if you're looking at a "sporty" car or if you're looking at the cheapest POS the company makes.

You could have ordered one. If you look on your window sticker...your automatic cost you $800 more and you didn't get the trans you wanted. The dealers can order you the car you want or even search for it..yeah it may take a month longer but if its the car you want...you should wait.

you know what i went and looked at the sticker and it just says "automatic transmission; included"...

once they do find a manual v6 they won't really negotiate for it anyway...it'll be take it or leave it....

When I got my Accent I was told that the dealer couldn't order one -- they just sold what Hyundai shipped them, and had no choice about what they got. It sounded a little fishy, but I got the same story from more than one dealer, so... I guess Hyundai just sucks like that. :ermm:

That's also why I've got a dark grey Accent instead of a black one like I originally wanted. Luckily, the color has grown on me.
