Default parents buying me an 07 sonata

WARNING NOOB QUESTIONS

Well since its my first car they want to get me a 4cyl. because they think I'm gunna speed, I have on idea where they got that idea. Well they said once they buy it for it's mine and I can do whatever I want with it, I just have to wait till I'm 18 to add a turbo or anything like that. I know the V6 model is pretty fast (6.6 for 0-60) so when I turn 18 should I just sell my 4cyl and buy a V6 or would I be able to drop in a new engine with a turbo? Also, if I add NOS on now is it alright to have a auto and use it or not? Or should I stick it in autoshift?

I'm goin to assume that you're pretty young...

So, lemme put it to you straight. You're in HS, and you don't have a lot of funds. Messing with anything in your new Sonata is going to void your warranty, so keep it reliable and leave the engine alone. If you want speed, get yourself a motorcycle or an old import/muscle car because it's not worth it to mess around w/a new car. Ride in style, add HID's or a body kit, thats' your business, but keep it reliable because you dont seem like a backyard mechanic either to fix everything you break.

yeah for now, i'd mess with dress up items for now. i've done a fair share of things to my car and started projects i wish i hadn't. once you try and alter something under the hood, i promise you it will get fucked up and you will be pissed at yourself for trashing your car. even that 4cyl. is pretty fast, my friend has one and my mum has the v6. the v6 is fast but the 4cyl has a lot to offer as well.

We drove to orlando (2 hours away) and bought a black V6 se with cloth interior for 13,988 with only 4537 miles on it and a clean car fax report. So I don't need to upgrade at all its quite speedy. All I'm going to put on it now is possibly a spoiler but definnetly some rims and tint

Default Another H.S.'er

I'm also in H.S.; My parents just bought me a beige 07 SE new. The v6 is totally worth it. It's prolly more power than i should have, lol.

Default definetly agree

I love my black 07 sonata. I figure putting about 5 grand in appereance mods and then maybe later on giving it some more hp. In the next few weeks I'm going to get the stock rims powder coated black. Then I plan on getting a system. The getting black interior installed. Then a spoiler. Then a Studie bodykit, and finally some lambo doors.

I'd say stay away from the Lambo doors. Look up the "VIP style" and mindset of "tuning," its what the Sonata is most suited for:

VIP style - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You won't get that much out of it because of its weight; believe me I've tried. Not many people are into the VIP thingo from what I understand, so it could be a new direction for you to take without the excessive speed being necessary; it takes a long time to be able to handle a vehicle going that quick and mistakes can be, and often are fatal.

Thats pretty much what I plan on doing. I'm still boarder line on the doors so I'll probably end up staying away from them. I'm not sure I would really add anything to the engine because in about 8 years (when I'm done with school) I'll probably buy another car.

Yeah I can't wait, once I need new tires I'm going to get low profile tires. Right now I have the beige interior but I'm thinking about taking out the dash and everything and getting it painted black with some vinal spray and then I'm going to get the seats done black, maybe with gucci.
