Default 2002 Sonata V6

Hey all. Been reading a lot on here lately since I have dumped my 98 Stratus for my girlfriend's Sonata. She just bought an 08 Scion XB and is madly in love with it!

Anyway, I was looking for a CAI for this car and have found on this forum that the 2003 V6 tib's should fit fine. Is that correct? Has anyone found a manufacturer that may be better than the next, ie: K&N, INJEN, AEM?

Also, I was wondering if adding the CAI would add a lot of back pressure where it would be recommended to upgrade the headers and exhaust, etc.? I'm not looking to beast this car, but to help my deal with the insane commute I have with a little pep.

Last but not least, what's this I hear about a cartridge style oil filter for my model? Can someone please advise?

Many thanks!

I'm confused...

A CAI shouldn't add much more backpressure other than the potential of causing more exhaust gasses because of the increase of intake gasses. You should be fine on that accord, but an exhaust is always nice on any car. You can always do the basic bolt-ons and I'm sure they do have them for the V6 Sonata. I/H/E will give your car a little extra pep, help on the gas mileagen unless you ALWAYS MASH ON THE ACEL, and give your car a little extra flair.

What year Sonata do you have?

Out of all the aftermarket filters, the AEM filter was proven to have the best filtration but average hp gains but Injen has proven the highest gains but the worst filtration. K&N's are great, but if you're commuting you should definately change the oil every 3k religiously mainly because these performance filters add in soo much more dust and other particles into your engine compared to OEM paper filters.

Never heard of cartridge oil filters tho... Elaborate?
