I have a 06 Sonata with the V-6. Anyone run out and bought winter tires yet? Any thoughts on brands/size? Currently I am looking at getting some fresh rims and going 225 60R 16's to replace the stock 17's. Thoughts? Anyone buy any south of the border and just drive back up?
For snow tires narrower is better as they need to compress the snow and pack it down. Go to tirerack.com and read the reviews. That is a great source of knowledge. For ultimate traction the Bridgestone Blizzacks seem to be the best.

I also have a 2006 Sonata V6 and I recently bought a set of Hankook W409 winter tires in 205/65/16 size mounted on steel wheels from a local tire shop. The price was good and I am very happy with them.
You definitely want to go to a narrower tire for winter to get the maximum benefit from them in the snow.
