Default Dash Trim Removal

Hey y'all whats goin on?

I'm trying to get at my gauge cluster to install red bulb covers for illumination. Well, I removed the three screws that hold on the black cover over the cluster. Is this really supposed to be a PITA to get off?? I really can't get it off. Any suggestions? Its a 1998 Sonata. Thanks, -Rob

I"m not sure about your model, but on the 95 model, there is 3 on top to take the black plastic out first, then once that is removed, there are 2 on the bottom that can only be accessed once this first surround is taken out. once you remove the 2 bottom screws, mine just pulls straight out, the cluster sorta clicks into place like a piece of lego, maybe you have to pull harder (no pun intended) on that cluster

I never got past the first cover

Its a real pain, only the top pries off but the sides and bottom are stuck... GRRR!!

Do you think its a good idea to put red cluster lights in for illumination, Pontiac style? Im thinking its going to look awesome.

Make sure the screws that are on the top under the black part (make since?) are out because that could be your problem...mine pops out really easily. DO you have te 3.0 or the 2.0? I have the 3.

The three top screws are out of there. Oh well, I guess a little power to struggle it out will work? I really do not want to break or crack anything!

Its a 2.0 four/automatic. Suits me fine with the ECT switch!
