Default Performance parts for 05 Sonata

I was thinking about adding some performance parts to my Sonata to take it to a drag strip once a month (and pull a Nova :3), and I was wondering where I could find performance chips and exhaust systems. I found a site that had chips from Surge Engineering and 02 Engineering. Are they good? Are there better ones?

its best not to get into something like that it might work but all it does is distort the signal the o2 censor reads which is bad.

sonatas don't have much in aftermarket support so you might have to look into custom things.
which can either be cheaper or more expensive depending on what you want done and who does it for you.
mufflers are universal so grab a muffler you like off ebay and take it to an exhaust shop the should be able to make you a whole 2.5" -3" catback for like 80-100 dollars.

depending on what engine you have you might be able to use things from other cars too.

but here are some sites that might have a fancy for sonatas.
sharkracing.com
kspec.com
kdmstuff.com
evofusionusa.com
kfxperformance.ca

going turbo
all mods aside, its all about how fun the car is.

One of the main things I want to do is replace the exhaust system entirely. And getting a chip for the sonata is not a good idea?

well that "chip" they are advertising for just confuses the stock ECU and that is not good.
there are not very many legit chipping modules, so you have to be extra sure what you pay for isn't a scam.

for a Hyundai there are no chipping units.
there is stand alone ECU's tho.
APEXI has the SAFC and AFC Neo, AEM makes the Fic.

and you can always make a megasquirt ECU
expensive tho

they all require tuning.

I think there was one other site that would make Performance ECU's for Hyundai's too

there are a hell of a lot of scams being played like that even on tuner magazines.
Import Tuner is a nice example, they talk about pro tuning and turbo's and such, but when you look on the back there is an ad for a scam called turbonator.
turbonator is a small peice of a tube that is cut to look like it will spin air lol, but actually plays as an air restriction.
ebay you also find a bunch.
"fuel ionizers" magnets , "performance chips" 3cent transistors, "electric superchargers" 12v fans, and much more.

just make sure you always know what your getting before you get it.

depending on the year the Elantra will have a lot more aftermarket support.

but when it comes to chips and stuff its about the same difficulty.

only the Genesis coupe is chip able
every other model must run stand alones or any other ECU

I know the 2.7 in the sonata is the same 2.7 in the tiburon, the delta engine. I think its shark racing that makes a bigger throttle body and a CAI, both over $200 a piece. Its not worth trying to buy another ecu, just too much of a hassle. IMHO
