Default OH NO PLEEZE HELP ME!

Today my mom was driving around and she felt the car felt weird. She said she when she was at a stop she had to put the car into neutral and rev it to make sure it wouldn't die on here. When my dad picked the car up from her he couldn't get the same problem. Then I figured since she was at a stop and had to keep the revs up I put it in nuetral and let the car roll back down the driveway. Then I put it in drive and put the e-brake on slightly so the car would kind of have to fight to get going. Well while it was creeping along very slowly the car was stumbling on the rpm. It felt like power was being lost then back to normal then lost etc...I did it a couple times and once I got out of the car to see if it was bouncing because it felt like it was. The car was actually bouncing around a little (built in hydrualics, how about that heh?). This is not normal what so ever. It was raining today also. I checked the plug wires and they are all on tight. I only had a couple mins so I couldn't check out anything really. Also the car needs to get its muffler changed because it has never had one and the car has 106000 miles on it. Could that be part of the problem? Probably not...? The car has always has most of its maitanance service done on time. So does anyone know what the problem could be? 97 Sonata GL V6.

It maybe the ignition coils. My sister was driving one day and the car started bumping and shaking. The accent is a 97 and this happened about 5 months ago. Get that checked out if you haven't already.

Dunno... maybe someone else can help you out.

What i would do, if it's idle, then it's most likely the idle speed control motor, check for a plug/clip near your throttle body and make sure they are all plugged in correctly. i had this problem with my ISC motor on my motor. Failing that, check for any leaks, and check that the fans are cycling every 30 seconds or so. If you have an auto, and it's happening out of neutral, i suppose it could possibly have something to do with the stall converter. only other thing i can think of right now is to disconnect the battery to reset the ecu and then see what happens.

Also, check to see that the air filter is not clogged with crap.

Have you followed the regular service intervals? There are many causes for these symptoms, so lets start by asking if your car has been properly mantained with OEM Hyundai parts...has it?

Also to Justin-
Last time this happened it was the ignition coil was bad but we replaced that and it was the first thing I looked at and no luck there. But I am going to clean her up today and then I will take a look at it. Thanx everyone.
