i knew bout that one but is that the only one out there??
i mean come on....the sonata can kick the crap out of almost any car in its class bone stock, much less modified. the car has such potential and it is so versitile that you pimp it out and still haul your family around.
i disagree about the 'kicking the crap' part out of the cars in the sonata gls class. i own a stock '99 GLS, and i tell you that it moves so so. if you consider the sonata class only buy price sticker (under $20K), then you're only comparing the sonata to 4 cylinder cars (sentra, mp3, civic, etc). as soon as you move up on the money, and compare to cars in its own SIZE class (3.0 accord V-6, 3.5 altima V-6, 3.5 intrepid, 3.2 TL, etc) you find that the sonata quickly loses its ground. i have posted a message about this before. the engines (and tuning) in hyundai cars stink. if you compare these engines mentioned above, they all create 200+ horsepower while the sonata mopes around at 180 or so. sure i would take on a civic/integra with my sonata, but i would not step up to a 3.5 altima V-6 or even a V-6 mustang. i don't even have to mention that it is near impossible to find a 5-speed GLS here in the midwest. which brings me back to the original topic: yes, the sonata V-6 needs some more oomph but i don't think it's ever going to happen- not the way we would like it to.
Superbee-
The interpid the Hyundai does beat, not including their R/T version. Also I believe that Hyundai manufactured any 5spds with their V6...at least in the US. Hardly any V6's came with a 5spd in Korea.
Meyou2-
Unfortunatly their are not that many parts out for the V6 you are inquiring about. Anything though you can get custom made to YOUR specifications. Which can be a good thing and bad thing. I think getting custom is also good is becasue it automatically makes you uniuqe. Some things won't be that expensive...some things will. You just have to be ready and willing to shell out a couple more bucks than everyone else...especially with a V6. Now also...since you have a 2.5L you are in some luck. When people start to come out with things for the new V6 on the Tib...you might be able to fit some of the products with either no or little modification to them. Also as for the engine...it is the same Delta engine used in the Tib...which means that it can not handle extreme loads of power like the Beta engine can. If you want a cheap reliable boost, I highly recomend getting a nitrous system in your car. You could probably safely run a 75shot, but you might wanna check if your fuel pump can flow certain amounts of fuel...ask in "Nitrous Tunning." I know you won't need any internal parts for a 75shot or lower...just colder plugs and always use 93 octane when you plan on running the nitrous. Also if you want to make a custome CAI for you car here is a link. http://www.teamsr.org/ForumLinkedIma...rs_cai_diy.htm

Has anyone done this on a 2000 GLS V6? I'd be very interested in some brief explanation of where the tubing goes. I've been looking and it seems pretty packed in the engine compartment. Adjacent to the airbox and under the fuse box is another black box that has a squarish plastic tube that heads forward and through the engine bay wall up front. Is that a part of the airbox or a part of the resonator? Or does it connect the two?
I'll be getting a Helm's Manual for the car in a couple weeks and will get a better idea then I'm sure, but I wanted to know if anyone has experience doing this on this car. Please let me know.
Smiley could probably tell you the best place to run the filter to. When I get home after work around 1am Central time I will try and post up on where to run your tubing/filter to. If you can wait 10hours then I can be of some service.
