Default alternator to smalll!!!! what else will fit any one please help

hello i am new to this site i own a 2002 Hyundai accent gsi with a 9830 alpine hu and phenix gold 5.25 componets for the front and 5.25 coaxles for the back. I would like to run 2 kicker SL7 10 for my car with a Lanzar MXA282 amp at 4 ohm load. I am going to be running the stinger 0/1 guage wiring kit but i am running a 80amp stock alternator and i am as well looking into putting my x-box in my car with a 7inch head rest screen. but i am having dimming with just my head unit and phenix speakers i need help any suggestions. ( i can't find a bigger alternator unless some one else knows what will fit in there).

yes that was an option but if i use a deep cycle u always have the chance draining the battery so much faster even if u moniter it with a volt meter on ur dash it is still a pain in the ass. ANY othe suggestions thanks though.

An extra battery not only won't help you but will actually put even more of a load on the alternator in order to charge it.

You say your headlights are dimming with your head unit and components, is this an amped set up? and do your headlights dim while you are driving?

I have an X3 (I don't know what the alternator amperage is on it) but I am running a 200W RMS amp for 4 speakers, HU, and also two 100W driving lights without any problem (while driving). When I'm at idle without the driving lights on I do notice my headlights flicker slightly (from the reflection on the car infront) but definitely not dimming as if being drained. If you are actually experiencing a dimming then I suggest doing the Big 3 ground wire install. If that doesn't help then I think your only option is to at least replace your alternator with another stock unit (see if you can get a good one cheap). An capacitor may help if the dimming is only on heavy beats. I'm not really sure what your proposed amp requires but generally speaking if its not that much (400 RMS) and you aren't running anything else that requires significant power (X-Box should be relatively negligible) then you should be fine with the stock alternator (assuming you've fixed the problems you are already having).

BTW welcome to the forum, but this should have been posted under Sounds and Security.

Something's wrong there.
I am running 200 RMS too with a sub and a cd head unit that does 100 rms total.. no light dimming, with all headlight & fog light on, and heater.

It's either your battery is already dynig (which is the case if it's still your OEM battery).

because my systems takes a total of about 30 - 40 amps i assume, with the car's computer and ignition takes about 10 or so amps. I see no reason why a 80 amp alternator won't work. Even up to 60AMP draw is still safe.

If you want a larger Alternator, your going to have to buy one, and frankenstien the Accent mount to it to get it to mount.

Or just do what these guys have said, you should do the ground wire mods anyways, and Optima has a nice battery for high power systems.

I wonder if you can rebuild one for hight amps?

if you head lights a going dim with out an amp you need a new battery and probally alt. I have a 2 SL7 12's running at 1 ohm and 4 dei 6.5's running at 2ohms each. I had a dim problem then i installed a yellow top and have had no problem. I know i need a bigger alt but don't want to buy it. You need a new battery or alt. I've been running my set up since the car was new in 2001 and i killed the stock battery after 2 years. that's probally your problem is you have a stock battery.

a cap will just band-aid the fact that you do not have enough power to run what you want to.

I have found that the stock alts for the accent totally stink. They do not run at 14.4 but hover around 13.8 and only go over 14 under heavy load. Not a good starting point.

However, modding your bracket to carry a CS case gm alternator is not a problem, and can be done in less then 4 hours with some good cutters and grinders and a small piece of steel. I no longer have my car or I would have taken a pic.

I used a 240 amp "hot rated" on my car and yes, my lights still dimmed with 2 extra batterys in the back, of course that was with an estimated 800 amp draw lol.

On my accent I got a high output built by Ohio Generator, bolts in place of the stock does 180 amps I think, got two optima yellow tops and 2.4 farad in caps and I don't have any problems, and I am running a lot of electrical. However I honestly can't say I have ever tried to pull 800 amps at once, but I have never really calculating my max pull maybe when the car is at a show with everything on around 300-400 amps maybe.
