Bypass the FOB activated alarm???

I was once shown how to bypass the alarm on a Toyota where you turn the key on, but without attempting to start it, then cycle off, on, off, and on again, then the alarm turned off and it would start like you turned it off with the remote!

There should be a way to bypass the system on my 2002 Elantra GT as one remote (the one I have, she gets the good one

) is seriously worn out and some day soon I believe I will be stranded and she will be home with the good remote and no way to get to me.

Anyone know?

If the OEM alarm is armed on your elantra, but your FOB dies and you seem to be unable to turn off the alarm, simply insert your key in the ignition, turn to the on position as if you were to start the vehicle, close the door and put your fingers in your ears for about 1 minute for the alarm to shut up. the car should then allow you to start it.
