Man, downshift to your hearts' content. This is why we own manual transmission, if your clucth can't take it, you should consider a new ride!!!
Or get an auto and be a lamb, as apposed to a wolf.

is it possible to brake smoothly with your e-brake?

i mean.... apply it partially to bring you to a slow stop ?

i just though of that... maybe because i just woke up, and went to be like... 3 hours ago:??:

you can use the e-brake. though i wouldnt recomend it unless it was your only op[tion. but, pulling it up slow will work, but too fast will send you spinning straight into your grave.

The ebrake will not slow you down any faster than putting your brake pedal to the floor. Emergency brakes either use a cable to operate the normal brake caliper, or have an additional braking surface specifically for the ebrake (Some drum rotors only). In either case, the normal brakes will be better.

Using the ebrake in addition to normal braking could be of use if you fall into the second catagory, but no emergency situation will allow you the extra time to pull the ebrake.

IMO...the ONLY time you need to grab the e-brake is when you are parking...or if you need to get the ass end around quickly on a hairpin. The latter takes practice...and lots of it. Learn to highside and touch the exit side of apex first...then learn handbrake.

i wasn't talking about emergency situations, I meant just... slowly applying it, and how it would compare to the brakes.

and i already have mucho experience with e-brake u-turns.
not something I really need to develop that anymore

In most cases it's the exact same as your brakes, except rear only and cable rather than hydro.
