Default Clutchless shifting

I thjink I got the hang of it! I can even downshift 4-3 properly too! Only problem is a peice of the carburator fell off a long time ago and it controlled the rate of engine delceleration... the revs drop pretty fast now. I think I'll reinstall that peice!

AS long as the tranny doesn't grind im ok right?

grinding is worse but the sudden jolts will put more stress on your motor mounts, CV joints, gears and bearings etc.

you have a clutch why not use it? i can switch gears w/o it too but its not really worthwhile for anything... something wrong with your left foot? ::nervous:

Well the guy who towed my acheiva to the wreckers didn't use his clutch at all, only for starting to move. He said after 250,000 KM's the clutch was adjusted once. So I tried it. Besides, the engine is fucked, the tranny is fucked, and now the driveshaft vibrates at highway speeds. I think i'm gonna put in a new engine and trany before winter.... only problem is there's only a 1.4L engine available locally...

There's nothing to be gained from clutchless shifting except a much greater chance of extreme trans damage. I've read comparisons of shifting methods on 1/4 miles and road tracks and clutchless gained nothing, the best method for drag racing is still to shift with the clutch, but not lettting off the gas. And as for road racing, smoothness is the key, so I would think the clutch would certainly come in handy to keep a nice smooth flow of power coming to the ground. Now if you had a nice little dogbox racing trans, then hammer away at those shifts without no stinkin' clutch.

Hey man its your car, its your pain if it breaks. Go ahead and shift it how you like, but if you really want to shift fast drain out the gear oil. :

Umm, his post was useless. If I was a mod i'd lower it. I asked a specific question and he reiterated my words and threw in obvious witless comments that not only wasted bandwidth, but pissed me off.

it pissed you off lol. e-mail stephen and bitch him out!!! lol

anyway, i was just stating that having no gear oil WONT help you in any way, especially shifting w/o disengaging your clutch... and no good to a tranny with synchros thats for sure...

I was just making a joke that shifting your tranny without using the clutch is about as good as if you drained out the oil.
