Default First time in the hot seat

i have neevr gone to the strip for an official qm time. when i was 16 and a half i got my tiburon and my dad said i wasnt allowed to race at the strip until i was 18. t minus 2 weeks and counting untill im 18 and im gettin ready to go.

im going to shoot for a 16 flat, but if i enter into the 15's itll be a miracle.

im going to find out if i am as good of a racer as i think i am. but before i spin the rubber im gonna need some advice.

what type of things do you all advise? i read the tire psi jazz and it says i should do 30 psi stock. im gonna do 25 in the front and 35 in the rear. but what else should i do? any maintanence issues i should deal with before i go?

oil change? spark plugs? air filter? full or empty tank? quarter tank? half tank?

i would run 20 in the front and 35 in the back. faraco3 does that and is even thinking of trying 18 in the front.

Full mechanical check before racing is necessary. Oil change, spark plugs gapped if they're still fresh, or changed and gapped if they're not. Air filter change, brakes checked and tyres checked for wear. Breaking into the 15's isnt any good if the car won't stop.:

All the best bro!:rambo:

Yeh you should change the plugs. Routinely it's every 10,000km's. I'd suggest doing the wires too if you have the cash to spare.:

Hey man, quick tip.

I use 18 psi in the front and 43 in the back.

And the light tree I say it as follows, one set of two staging lights, then creep forward till the second set of two staging lights wait for your opponent. Then I count the yellow lights like 1-2-3-GO-green. You should get a pretty low reaction time.

Don’t dump the clutch, kind of ride it out of first then shift however you want

Have fun
