It's all a matter of the tires. kenji had the tires to do a 6k rpm launch, normal street tires require a much lower launch rpm. Last time at the track I launched at 6500rpm with Falken Azenis Sports and posted my fastest time that night. It barely spun and was off down the track, that was a 1.6L Accent though, my new Elantra may need a lower launch because of the increased power.

at the track, i begin to put the car in gear at the 2nd light, let off the clutch and ease on the throttle. if i floor it, i spin the tires into 2nd gear. street launch, i let off the clutch, half throttle to 3k then floor it. my car scampers for traction.

6300 Neutral Drop in Sport mode, I Don't bother to shift to 2nd gear in sport mode cause it's too damn slow for the slushbox to keep up,

To Shift to 2nd and in sport mode, you'd have to shift the Gear Knob Prematurely and them wait a second for the tranny to shift in the right spot.
Screw Sportmatics!!
I Let the Tranny shift itself to 2nd when in sport mode to protect the engine from redline danger.

I Love Blue Smoke coming from my front tires........:nervous:

even when i had 8" wide tires on my car i would smoke them if i redlined and dropped the clutch. he must have full on drag slicks, or else his clutch is so bad that he can't put the power down to the ground.:ermm:

2k dump... or get the same results from 3k feather.. Id rather dump it and spread the load out.. and not smoke the friction plate :ermm:

track i was doing like 2800rpm featherd out and would get a little chirp but then just punching it would spin them up sometimes or still spin and bunny hopp for traction. it was all depending on tire pressure, temperature and just how much you punch it once it starts to go.

I know all about that heating the friction plate up etc.. lol nothing like a blown clutch and stuck pedal to the floor at 6500rpm redline and 80mph going down the track. lol

for you guys taching up to 6,000 what are your 60 ft. times. you cant judge a lunch by if you run faster in et you need to judge it by how much quicker your 60 ft. times are. i run 2.4 60ft times in all stock 5sp at 16.4 et with out taching up at all. if your car is running faster then 16.4 then your 60 ft time should be faster unless your not launching right. if you are going to tach it up you should tach it up to not much more then 2400 much more then that and your going to smoke your tires the hole track.
