bracket racing basics
Ok bracket racing tips once you have figured your dail in based on a few time runs. you write on your car your time. Lets say you get to the track and its hot you run a 17.12 second run its cooler you run a 16.95 half hour later its time to race you write on your car 16.84. What that means is when you race you need to run as close to 16.84 without going any faster if you do a 16.839 you automaticly loose its called breaking out. Another way to automaticly lose is if you leave too earily red lighting you see a red light when you do this.
Before you pull into race the absolute MOST IMPORT THING TO DO IS CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR DAIL ON THE SCORE BOARD MATCHES YOUR WINDOW. most of the time people will race before you and your dail in wont be displayed until they finish just wait. If you notice it after you have roled in your stuck but if you catch it role down your window and tell the guy running the tree. i had a focus wagon automatic that ran 17.0 and one time they dailed me in at 11.0 sec imageine my suprise when the car i raced dailed at 15.5 went first.
When you pull up to race you see two sets of lights at the top these are staging lights when you role foward the first set pre stage lights will light up slowly role forward until the second set staged lights up if you role to far the top lights will dim and you will be staged deep and this can realy mess you up and probaly make you red light. Just so you know the edacite you pull in light your first set and let the person you race light their first set before you light your second set. When you race only imports more often then not people wont do this but when you start racing the old school domestic cars they do this and it will prove to them that your not just an idiot ricer.
After this you see lights light up it goes yellow yellow yellow green. the biggest mistake people make is they hit the gas when they see green this is bad because you have a bad reaction time the faster your rection time the closer it will put you to the finish line. although most people think the faster your recation is the faster your car will drive. i've heard people say im running 15.9 with a .952 reaction if i can have .600 r/t i'll run 3 tenths faster not true. a perfict r/t is .500 or .000 if you run a zeroed out tree if your not sure what your track runs ask.if your reaction time is a .499 or a -.001 you lose. i have done it and it sucks. try leaving in the middle of second light.
Another important rule when you race, the person in the right lane at the end of race gets to exit first even if you are the faster car their should be three exits just go to the next one if the other car is way slower.i was almost hit by some one that cut over and slamed on their brakes just so they could make the first exit .
Some random thoughts, for the most part the first number that is writen on your car is the lane you'll be in like if the number is 6573 you be in lane 6 but ask if the tech guys dont tell you. never do a burn out unless motioned to and if you have stock tires its real pointless burning out. always treat the track officials with respect.
some rules you need a snell aproved helmet if you are running faster then 14.0. if you have a convertable you can't run faster then 14.0 unless you have a full role cage. You most were long pants and either a tee short or long sleves no tank tops or spaghetti straped shirts
good luck ryan
