This is one thing I could never make up my mind on. On a stock ECU car that's designed to run optimally on 87 octane, should you use 93 octane at the track? I'm sure it's safer...but from a performance standpoint is there anything to be gained from using high octane without an ECU specifically programmed for it?
no benefits if you have stock ecu and running a higher octane when you dont need to can cause your car to not start

uzzled: not start... Ive never heard of a no-start situation due to to high of an octane rating. It would make sence if you were talking 104+ octane in a car made to run 87.... but 93????

Actually I had some foci run damn close races against my accent at the track. They arn't that dang slow. BTW they were faster.. the drivers sucked at the tree. Get them by up to .5 seconds off the line and I was fighting them (modded ZX3's) off for the finish line. : Never lost to one but had some close calls.

On the other hand the FocalJet sponsored zx3 @ Battle of the Imports finals in Bakersfield last year ran 15 and change w/ 20K invested in the motor and a, hmmm, shall we say porcine driver...
Why do the Corporate wankers spend money and then not TUNE the damn motor???:??:
As far as the hi Octane goes - I seem to get a little more in the low end on the auto, but I'm sure it is not a measurable diff. On a road course I wouldn't bother at all. Believe me I am fussy about some things...
And a PS to the previous post - the Doberman in the back of the Focus survived to tell the tale...not a scratch...
