what you need to do is get your car dynoed. On the dyno the part you should be the most concerned with is the rpm and torq dont worry about the hp because torq is what excelartes the car not hp. what most racers try to do is "stay on the cam" What that means is you should keep the engine with in a rpm range where the transmission is producing the best amount of torq before and after each shift.

so here are some facts that apply to your v6 tib 6spd that can help you until you get it dynoyed. if you do get it dynoed post your slip and i can help figure out you shift points specific to your car but for no here some genral guide lines that will help you out.

ok on a stock v6 6sp tib the car makes 170 hp @ 6000 rpm and 181 lbs of torq at 4000 rpm. so when you shift your car drops rpm to the next gear what you want is when it drops rpm you want to be as close to 4000 rpm as possiable because at 4000 rpm the car is making the most torq. I looked up what the stock gear ratio for each gear was on the 6sp. From that I used a formula that shows where the rpms drop to after each gear.

This is what I got if you shift each time at 6000 rpm from 1st to second your rpm drops to 3695 from 2nd to third it drops to 4113 3rd to 4th 4781 4th to 5th 4867 5 th to 6 th 4883. accoring to this 6000 rpm is to high to shift each time so idealy you probly want to shift at 5900 or 5800 each time. The reson you want to get dynoed is if its not stock your maxium torq could be at a different rpm. I know i did a lot of writing when i could of just said hey shift at 5900 or 5800 rpm each time. Hopeful you have a better understanding for this and your not more confused.
