strut and shock? who?! - Hyundai Performance Forums

ok i went to my normal shop and asked about the labor charge on installing my lowering springs and he asked if my rears were struts or shocks, i was like, um i didnt check. but thats bc i dont kno the difference.

i got a 98 tib fx, what do i have? and whats the difference? if i buy the kyb's, will i have the right items?

your struts and shocks are all one assembly in the strut tower

on some cars they use a setup where the shock and the spring are seperate. On cars like our they use macpherson struts. This is when the shock is inside the spring and all one component.

if the shock and spring are together, can i still buy the lowering springs and the kyb's? i will definately be taking this to the shop to be done:depressed:

they are together but can be seperated from one another.
